Awards and recognition are given to outstanding alumni each year. Of the
over 5000 UST medical alumni active in medical practice in the United States, many excel in their chosen fields and many engage in activities well beyond their medical profession in service to their communities, the poor and underserved, their schools back home and other worthy pursuits.
Many do so quietly and unnoticed, their contentment capacity filled to the brim by joy and smiles they bring to others by their service.
Recognitions and awards are mere icings to their towering achievements. Such recognitions however also inspire their fellow alumni to follow their
lead and example, not so much for the awards per se, but the nobility and
far-reaching outcomes and effects of such endeavors to their beneficiaries,
friends and families, communities, society, Medicine and the recipients themselves.
USTMAAA strives to recognize these outstanding alumni each year. We request more active participation from the general alumni body for nominations since we are unable to monitor all such activities by all alumni.
We have identified categories, but we are open to add more with your input and recommendations if demanded by the situation.
This year’s (2009) categories are as follows:
Most Outstanding Alumnus for Service to the Community – To honor alumni who have contributed significantly to the betterment of their community, both here and in the Philippines.
